A note from the Editor

Orbs of light caught on digital cameras seem to have been creating a buzz over the past year or so.  They have caused a huge amount of debate, conferences have been organised, books and articles written.  And as is the case with synchronicity, the phenomenon went global in no time at all as people began sharing their digital pictures, which clearly show these glowing, and yet translucent spheres of light.  They seem to gather around people’s heads and heart chakras, particularly at times where the vibrational frequency is raised either through meditation or music, ley line energy or purely through people coming together and expressing joy.   They are also attracted to places of higher vibration such as sacred sites.

So what are they? 

Scientists are now able to take us beyond initial sceptical explanations that cameras were picking up photo flare or moisture, and it would seem that the digital camera is managing to ‘see the unseen’.  For all of us who know that there is more to our existence than what can be perceived with the naked eye, the digital images now being caught on camera seem to be providing the proof. 

“Many people think that orbs are physical entities, others think that they are spirit entities, and still others think that they are merely artifacts associated with light scattering from airborne particulates…..After reflecting for some months on the data and my own psycho energetic science modeling of nature, I have come to the conclusion that the appearance of ‘orbs’ in and around the planet Earth at this time is not accidental. My intuitive view is that it is a part of a heightening of awareness brought about partially by the elevation in human thinking and partially by the increase in energies directed toward this planet by mostly benign life-forms existing in both traditional and untraditional (unseen) dimensions. My working hypothesis is that the orb phenomenon should be looked at as a positive experience for humanity, as just the first of a variety of communication manifestations to appear in the unfolding adventure of our future” William A. We exist alongside many other beings who vibrate at a higher frequency than us and, for eons, people have been able to see orbs, and other forms of light beings without a camera, but now that the veil between dimensions is thinning, it is becoming increasingly easy to get glimpses of other realms beyond our straightforward and linear perception – and awareness of this seems to have increased apace through the media of digital cameras, allowing people to have proof of what they have seen and know that it is not their ‘imagination’.  A huge step forward in reducing the scepticism which has existed.

Are they light beings?, expressions of our own soul?, there is much debate, but there is no question that these are conscious beings and it has been possible for people to conjure them at will, as John Pickering and Katie Hall discovered.  Their experiences of twinkly lights are now brought together in a book they have recently published and they were part of a fascinating group of individuals who shared their views and experiences at a conference in Glastonbury in 2008

I only wish to give you a brief overview here, and don’t intend to go into the physics of it all but Dr. William Tiller, who appeared in the film ‘What the Bleep Do We Know” and who will be a speaker at the U.S. equivalent of the Orbs Conference, has written widely on what he calls the “psycho energetic phenomenon” of orbs and he believes that “human consciousness is capable of coupling humans and instruments to another unique level of physical reality, not detectable by conventional instrumentation, and that this level of reality may have its own set of life-forms, some of which we may be able to image under the appropriate conditions”. 

In an essay, “On Understanding Science” by the former President of Harvard University, James Conant says:- "By definition, science moves ahead. For nearly forty years I have observed Dr. Tiller moving ahead in his dogged and indefatigable research in the science he calls psycho energetics. The field, the truest and most promising frontier of science, has fabulous implications for humankind. Yet, is has been shunned by most of the scientific community because moving ahead requires a dramatic re-conceptualization of the interface between ourselves and the material universe."  --Herbert Bruce Puryear, Ph.D., President, The Logos Center

So what we seem to have here is a repeat of the ancient myth concerning a group of indigenous Central Americans who didn’t even see the arrival of the Conquistador's fleet because it was outside their scope of perception.  It is time once again for a shift in perception.

The appearance of orbs in photographs was first brought to my attention by ‘The Great Rethinking', whose mailing I regularly receive, and this was soon followed by a dear friend, Nene, showing me photos she had recently taken at a glorious waterfall site in Cornwall.  She is sharing her photo and experience with us in a separate article so please do take a look.

For my part, I have so far been unsuccessful with images, but in Avebury at the Sanctuary, and at Glastonbury Abbey, meditating on the major ley line running through the altar, I have glimpsed these orbs via the lens of my sunglasses.  With the naked eye too I have had some awesome experiences with light forms, some moving, some still, which have filled me with the most tremendous feeling of joy and love – quite amazing!
