In mid-June the Christchurch Community Partnership showed a film at the Regent Centre, "The Power of Community" to increase awareness of how we can find sustainable solutions to the issues of Peak Oil. The CCP is working towards establishing Christchurch as a Transition Town.
We all depend on oil for transport, food and most other things we use, and the world has enjoyed a bonanza of cheap oil for almost 100 years. But how secure are oil supplies for us and future generations? The film shows how one country inspirationally overcame the end of this bonanaza in the early 1990s by turning to sustainable solutions and coming together as a community.
