Welcome to the Michaelmas issue of Hermits Bazaar.

As I write this the atmosphere around me truly is one of “….mellow fruitfulness.”.  The storms of August have abated and we are left with cloudless skies, showing off the turning leaves to their best advantage.  But there is no mistaking that glorious scent of Autumn in the air, and a slight chill to remind us that the wheel of the year is turning and summer is over.

The autumn equinox, or Mabon, is a time of thanksgiving, the time of second harvest.  The busy period of production and creation is over, and this is the time to take stock – as we enter a period of stillness.

In Yogic philosophy, this is the time of the pause in the breath.  The period of creation is likened to the in-breath when we inhale the Cosmic Breath of creation, and are, literally, inspired ourselves to ‘create’.  Now is the time when we pause with lungs full, taking a moment to appreciate what we have, to contemplate our achievements, the fruits of our labour, before eventually letting go of the old in the next phase of ‘winter’, when we offer our outbreath back to the Cosmic Breath.

The breath is the most direct way to connect with our inner Self and it is in this pause of the breath that we can truly reach stillness.  Only in stillness can we think about what we have in our lives and in which direction we want to take it.   Michaelmas falls within this period and provides us with an energy environment which we can use for development and growth if we so choose. It offers us the opportunity to gather and focus our energies which we can use for continuity in our endeavours and current projects, if our choice is to continue with ‘creating’!

For us the Autumn heralds the planning of our first 3D event with Hermits Bazaar Winter Fayre in Christchurch on November 22nd.  Local crafts, arts, jewellery, lotions and potions will be on sale and there will be tarot and therapies to enjoy, along with gentle folk music to listen to  from local musicians 'Free in a box'  and chai and cake to consume!  More details can be found in the Whats On section or please e-mail us.

We hope you enjoy the articles in this issue which include a feature on celebrating Mabon, the Autumn Equinox, and our September issue of Diary of a Psychic, which returns to the ‘Spirit of the Light’ messages. We also have a contemporary examination of Ayurveda which gives an interesting insight into this ancient discipline and how we are able to integrate it into our twenty first century lives, along with an Ayurvedic recipe kindly shared with us by the White Lotus Foundation in the States.  Dr Joe Dispenza is visiting the UK this year and we offer some of his research on that wonderful tool of ours, the brain, and his thoughts on creating what we want in our lives. The therapies section features Hopi Ear Candling, and White Elk Woman returns with a further insight into connection with All That Is,  including a beautiful piece of channelling from which this quote is taken "...Protect and serve the planet like the spiritual being you are meant to be....".  Don’t forget to take a look at the Eco section with words from Brian Eno, echoing how we can all create our own reality.

 Blessings!
